It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan Louis Williams, who died on December 26th, while at rest in his parents Sheena and Chad's loving arms.
As many of you know, Ryan and his twin sister, Berkeley, were born on April 22nd at 27 weeks. At six weeks, both babies were diagnosed with Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome, a rare disorder of the kidneys. Both children were transported from Valley Hospital to NYU and then up to Boston Children’s Hospital.
While Berkeley has had both kidneys removed and is on dialysis, she still continues to suffer from seizures and has had multiple strokes over the course of the past 5 months. Doctors hope that Berkeley will continue to get stronger and will be able to finally get a kidney transplant as soon as she grows big enough.
In addition to the congenital condition, Ryan, also known as “bear,” faced severe lung complications caused by chronic lung disease which ultimately led to his passing on December 26th. During these last eight months, Ryan fought for life relentlessly - becoming known in the hospital as the mighty warrior. Ryan showed all who encountered his spirit the power of true strength in times of trial and he repeatedly renewed all faith when it was least expected.
This has been a long and difficult road for Sheena, Chad, and the twins, and losing Ryan has made this road even harder. If you can find it in your heart to support two of the kindest people we’ve ever met and their beautiful family, please, please donate. A little bit goes a long way. Any donations we raise through this site will go to funeral expenses, housing, travel expenses, medical health and wellness care, and in-home nursing and monitoring.
Lastly, please continue to pray for Berkeley who now has the best guardian angel a sister could ever ask for.
