The Story

On Sunday, February 12, Jenni Steiner and her husband Kirk U’Ren were on Highway 30 on their way to cheer on the Badgers when the driver of a speeding car lost control and struck their SUV.

Kirk died in a tragic instant. Jenni was very badly injured and taken to a nearby hospital where she is in critical condition and fighting for her life.

Jenni and Kirk met at University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Their passion for sports, competitive spirits, generous hearts and warm smiles created a lifelong bond. As a couple, they were engaging and always fun to be around. Kirk and Jenni have been married for almost six years. They always dreamed of raising kids together and were blessed with twin boys, Kaden and Grayson last year.

Jenni is a senior manager at Baker Tilly in Madison and Kirk was a Sales Supervisor at Pepsi-Cola of Madison. Like so many others who have been touched by this amazing family, their co-workers at Baker Tilly and Pepsi-Cola of Madison would like to help in any way they can. This site has been created to help Kirk and Jenni’s families manage this extraordinarily difficult time.

Jenni's Baker Tilly colleagues are honored to know, work with and love Jenni. She is a cherished friend, amazing role model, mentor and a positive influence on everyone she knows.

Kirk was instrumental in the development of the Pepsi / Walmart Justin J. Watt Foundation golf outing that raised money for the foundation as well as the Madison area Boys & Girls Club. He led by example, had a huge heart for people and a great mind for business. Kirk will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

We are grateful for any financial support you wish to give their families and children. Your donations will go directly to them to ensure that all the dreams Jenni and Kirk have for their beautiful sons come true.

On behalf of Pepsi-Cola of Madison and Baker Tilly, thank you for your kindness.

We said goodbye to our friend Jenni last Saturday. At the services, the family spoke about Jenni's love of to-do lists (we can attest to that) and the attached was handed out. This is one to-do list that Jenni and Kirk were not able to finish. The family would like to spread the word on the importance of this list and share it with others who have been touched by the U'Ren family.

We would also like to share that on Sunday, March 12, Culver's in Cottage Grove will be hosting a proceeds day, where 50% of the sales collected will go to the U'Ren family. This will be a family event with a silent auction that includes items such as an autographed football from Clay Matthews, Badger football tickets in the Culver's suite and a 43 inch television. In addition to the auction, there will be entertainment for kids including face painting, balloons and a clown. We hope to see you there!

Thanks again to all who continue to support Jenni, Kirk and the boys!

It is with great sadness that we share with you that Jenni passed away on Saturday, February 25, succumbing to the injuries from the accident that also took Kirk’s life.

Jenni and Kirk touched so many people in their time with us, as evident by the tremendous outpouring of support on this site. They will both be forever missed by many.

Their greatest and most inspiring love was their twin boys, who will need our support more than ever. Please continue to spread the word in support of the U’Ren and Steiner families and these sweet boys.

We cannot thank you enough for the continued outpouring of support and love.

Baker Tilly and Pepsi of Madison are overwhelmed and touched by the support for the U’Ren family. We hoped we would surpass our goal, but we didn’t expect the tremendous outpouring of love from their co-workers, friends and strangers, locally and afar.  Kirk and Jenni have touched many.  We are so very grateful to all of the donors for your financial help and also your touching comments.   We cannot thank you enough!Continue to keep Jenni in your thoughts as she fights her way back to her boys.  Also, continue to spread the word.  We have made a dent in the support the family needs for Jenni’s recovery and raising twin boys, but just a dent. We have just raised our goal to $150,000 and with this community, we know we can do it!
