MITIGATING THE TRAUMA OF REFUGEE CHILDREN The Art Ranch (501 C3) Non-Profit
is launching its new initiative, the Art in Action Psychosocial Initiative
, which is a trident module using art therapies to support the healthy development of refugee children and to guide their journey towards viable futures in their new communities.
With our dedicated team of trauma psychologists and art therapists, we have developed a trident module that is designed to adapt to any community in any country and will begin its implementation in Berlin and Athens this summer, 2017. This research-based module has been overwhelmingly accepted by medical professionals and educators throughout Europe to help facilitate assimilation, integration, and recovery. “As I was helping refugee parents and their children arrive on the shores of Lesvos, Greece, I experienced firsthand the devastating impact war has on these families. They are educated, gentle people who had no choice but to risk their lives and flee their homeland. Many made it to the shore, but some did not. For those who made it, the next set of challenges had just begun. Their plight put me on a trajectory to help these most courageous people and offer their children the ongoing support they need to become healthy, productive citizens in their new communities. Their identities do not have to be defined by their circumstance. They need and deserve our help.”
-Laurie Pettigrew; Founder and Executive Director of the Art Ranch The Art Ranch mission
is to foster the growth of young people as creators, communicators and active participants in our ever changing, multi- faceted world. “If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.” - Ghandi At any moment our lives can be changed. Please help support us in bringing the Art Ranch's Art in Action trident module into communities to help guide refugee children towards viable futures.
