We have reached a point where we need to ask for help. We need a new roof! We are coming humbly to you through "You Caring" to ask that you pray about donating to our cause or possibly sharing our link. Our family is comprised of 10 children, 8 of whom still live at home. We have adopted 8 children from China with varying special needs. (down syndrome, spina bifida, arthrogryposis, anal atresia to name a few) We are a humble family just seeking to provide a safe environment for our family. We recently purchased a home that was adequate for our family, however; after living here one year we have found many items that were not deemed necessary to fix by our home inspection but do - in fact - need fixing. Our electric panel is HOT - our home is 65 years old and it still has a lot of original wiring and circuits. We cannot run our portable dishwasher and microwave at the same time. We cannot plug in our portable heater and lights at the same time. Circuits blow all the time and I worry about the safety of our wiring. I do not want to be the family that has a house fire.
Secondly, our one full bath for our family leaves a lot to be desired. We have not had a usable bathroom sink for 6 months and our children brush their teeth at the kitchen sink now. We have three children who cannot ambulate well and they have a hard time getting into and out of the bathtub, Ceramic tile needs replacing and the flooring is needy as well. All these things have happened in the first year we have owned this home.
Third, our roof is not vented properly and causes our pipes to freeze in the upstairs. We have to run a heater in our attic every night when it is cold to keep the pipes from freezing or bursting. We need a drastic roof repair to properly vent the attic eaves and keep us warm in winter and cool in summer. We have no A/C upstairs for our two bedrooms. We have used window air conditioners that are adequate though!
As you might guess, ten people sharing one full bath gets hectic and then to have the added issues of no sink and tiles falling....its been hard to deal with but we've made it work. Our home is 4 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. We have a living room, kitchen and four bedrooms. We have 1400 square feet of usable space. Our kitchen is connected to a breezeway which we use in Spring and Fall. This provides an extra room with another TV viewing area. We'd love to make this room weather proof so it is usable all year round. I think we could do that with two new exterior weather-proof doors.
You are impacting a family of ten. Our desire is to improve our home to make it safe and have the basic needs met for our family. Thank you so much for reading our story. Prayers are so very appreciated and if you feel led to share our link we would be grateful. Thank you so much,
Bill, Kelly, Samantha, Piper, Cassie, Jonathan, Joseph, Brighton, Elijah, and Jack.
At this point we are only trying to raise the funds for the roof repair as seen in the 18K figure. Thank you! Photos of our home before we moved in are in the photo section.
