248,577 miles, 400,018 km
This faithful truck has been in commission for 20 years, serving the WELS Thailand mission team, WELS Kingdom Workers, and Thai Village artisans and staff. It is now on its last legs. It breaks down regularly. The cost to maintain it is draining money that could be used for direct outreach. We urgently need a new truck!
THE HISTORY OF THIS TRUCK:
With over 240,000 miles (400,000 km), this truck has seen countless trips to the rural countryside and villages of northern Thailand. It was first used in 1997 as a family vehicle for a former missionary, then for regular outreach trips and for transporting Bible students from their villages to Chiang Mai city (900km roundtrip). These students are now grown with families of their own and some continue to work with Thai Village to provide work and income generation for their people.
The truck was used throughout the years for:
1. Village teaching/preaching trips
2. Bible student transport
3. Picking up orphans for Sunday service
4. Outreach events/volunteer English teaching trips
If the wheels could talk and tell the stories of all of the people that have been served by its 4 door cab and 2 bench carrier, they would tell you about the villages they have visited, people they have carried, and products they have delivered.
The number of villages the truck has served has multiplied and the need for a reliable truck to venture across the rural roads of Thailand has increased. It's vital that we have a truck for:
1. Home visitation
2. Outreach events
3. Market trips
4. Product displays
5. Order fulfillment
6. Hospital visitation
