Stevie arrived at Tails of Hope in October, below is the post I wrote announcing his arrival:
Meet my new boyfriend ❤️ Stevie Wonder.
A kind woman found him wandering the streets and took him to Waukegan Animal Control. At the time, they had no idea he could not see. Once he arrived at Tails we quickly realized he was totally blind. He gets around really well, so he has probably been blind his entire life. He is the most incredible, resilient little soul. He is content, grateful, loving, patient, and has a great sense of humor!
The journey continues: Off to the vet...they confirmed he was totally blind(most likley born that way, which explains how well he got around) and unfortunately heartworm positive! No problem, we started heartworm treatment.
Everyday his fan club grew. No one could resist the soulful eyes and quite demeanor of Stevie. He loved Halo and Frankie and was always with them. What a trio - Chinese Crested, Great Dane and a blind Chihuahua!
A month later Stevie went to the vet for his second heartworm treatment. Yhey noticed his gums were pale. After many tests, it was determined that Stevie was in renal failure. He probably had only weeks to live...so we packed a lifetime of love in his remaining time with us.
We all miss Stevie so much and have shed many tears! But we are also so grateful for the opportunity to have loved him.
We need your help to pay his current medical bills. In addition, we would like to establish a medical fund "For the LOVE of Stevie" that will provide the resources to help other dogs like Stevie.
Please help us create a legacy "For the LOVE of Stevie"
