Miriam, a 14 year old freshman at Telluride High School was diagnosed with Leukemia on Christmas Eve and flown to Children's Hospital (with her mother) in Denver to begin treatment. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Children's and her two brothers, Luis(22) and Daniel (16) are in Telluride working and attending school. Luis is currently the sole financial provider for the family, he gave all the money he had saved to his mother to cover expenses in Denver. That money has run out and in addition to growing medical expenses there are also basic needs that need to be covered (rent, food, utilities, transportation, etc).
The family has been working with the Telluride School District, True North, and One to One Mentoring to receive support. In this picture Miriam is pictured at Children's Hospital. The school principal, Sara Kimble and cultural liaison, Ursula Cristol will work with the family to help create a budget and distribute the funds and ensure they are used appropriately.
The Tabares family is appreciative of any support that you can provide. If you have questions please contact Ursula Cristol at [email protected]
