My name is Stephanie Costain and on April, 2016 I began taking in rescued/surrendered rats. The organization that I have created is called PEI's Rat Haven, it is an in-home safe haven for rejected and surrendered rats. Like other rescues we rely heavily on donations to keep going and keep all rats that come into our care healthy and happy.
I'm calling on all rat and animal lovers to help me out. I'm able to care for my own mischief but when it comes to adding more rats into my home it can become financially difficult to take on. I've accepted many rats since I have begun as well as adopted out just as many to wonderful and amazing homes. I have rely heavily on my own income as well as other volunteers that work alongside me. For all of the support, I am thankful!
This fundraiser was originally set up to aide a few ill rats that were in my care. 2 of them have passed unfortunately and the last one is doing amazingly - he got neutered! I will soon be doing slow introductions once he is completely healed with another pair of boys. Those funds have been put to use and are unfortunately gone. Since then, in one weekend, we got 15 new foster rats. We still have most of them in our care. We need bedding, food, water bottles, etc the necessities to keep running smoothly. I am fine putting my own money into the fosters but there are a few things we need and I want to accumulate money into our emergency vet fund in case we have to take any rats in for check ups.
This group is larger than I ever expected it to be and I am grateful for each and every member. I would never have been able to do it on my own. If you can donate $5 to save a rat, it would mean the world. If you can share this in hopes I can reach our goal, that would be just as great.
I am able to accept E-transfers and PayPal to our email: [email protected]
