The Story

Hey guys,

My name is Stephanie Costain and approximately 1 year ago today I have began taking in rescued/surrendered rats. The organization that I have created is called PEI's Rat Haven, a safe home for rejected and surrendered rats. Like other rescues we rely heavily on donations to keep going and keep all rats that come into our care healthy and happy.

I'm calling on all rat and animal lovers on PEI to help me out. I'm able to care for my own mischief but when it comes to adding more rats into my home it can become financially difficult to take on. I've accepted many rats in the last year as well as adopted out just as many to wonderful and amazing homes. I have been thankful that for the most part, the rats that have come and gone through my door have been in relatively good health. Up until now, I have relied on my own income as well as other volunteers that work alongside me.

The rats that needed medical attention have or will be seen!! Phoenix and Cocoa are being treated for their respiratory infections and Tigger will be going for his pre-surgery appointment on March. 18th to be neutered!! Any and all funds raised from here on in will be put towards future fosters who need medical help. :)

I will also be selling items on our Facebook Page - PEI's Rat Haven - to raise money towards this fund!

This group is larger than I ever expected it to be and I am grateful for each and every member. I would never have been able to do it on my own. If you can donate $5 to save a rat, it would mean the world. If you can share this in hopes I can reach our goal, that would be just as great.

I will also accept E-transfers to my personal email: [email protected]

Thank you,
Stephanie Costain

Tigger will be getting neutered!!! He will be able to have friends again - I'm so happy for him

We have technically reached our goal - to help out 3 adorable rats - but any donations here on in will be stored for emergency vet care for future rats :)

Just giving you guys an update - both Phoenix and Cocoa are doing great! They are taking their medicine like good ratties (since it's nice tasting sometimes they don't like giving the syringe back ;P ) but we are still far from our goal! Next up is Tigger - my hormonal boy. He's still alone unfortunately and no rat deserves to be alone in their short life-span. He will need to be neutered so that this aggression will subside and I can introduce him, or adopt him to someone who already has a rat.

Please share or donate if you can!

I want to thank all who have donated so far. It is greatly appreciated!

I will be heading to the vet with one of the 3 rats that need medical assistance next week.

Unfortunately, I do not have enough funds to take all 3 so I have to make the hard decision on which one to take.

If if you can spare as little as $5 that would mean the world to both PEI's Rat Haven as well as one of the rats

If you cannot donate please share and spread the word!
