The Story

Mitakuye Oyasin “To all my relations”

This is a call out to all the environmental warriors of the world, Standing Rock needs you now more than ever. In the next coming weeks the Native Council has decided that Oceti the main section of the Standing Rock camp will need to be moved out of the floodplain it exists in before the spring melts all the snow. This will be an incredible effort to move over 400 structures and all the infrastructure that goes with it. However, there is a serious problem that has just come to my attention in the past few weeks. The population of Standing Rock peaked at a little over 10,000 people during November and then in a very short time period the population dropped to less than 1000. During this process people left behind, tents, clothing, and most importantly garbage. All of that trash is now covered under 5ft of snow, the concern is that when the snow melts the water will pick up all the trash and carry it down river polluting it. We refuse to let this happen.

There is a plan that myself and countless others have been organizing to combat this issue. We are going to dig all of that Trash out of the snow and remove it before the spring floods arrive. But we desperately need your help to make this happen, we need funding. Currently we have had trucks, Bobcats, and tools donated to us. To complete the last portion of the plan we will need money to pay for transportation of volunteers, gas for all the vehicles, and some specialty items that we can’t get donated. I don’t like to pressure people in situations such as this, but the time to act is now. If we do not move on this issue, it will become an environmental disaster.

Fundraiser Updates

Hey everyone,

I'd first like to apologize for the fundraiser being quiet the last few weeks. I've honestly been exhausted, everyone at the camps spent the last 6 days leading up to the eviction to get as much done as humanly possible 16-20 hour shifts. So when I got back as I'm sure you can imagine I hibernated for some time to regain my strength

I can happily inform you that we were able to get everyone offsite who wanted to avoid the eviction. When the eviction notice was confirmed I shifted our efforts directly to saving infrastructure and equipment that could be used in future camps. All of that equipment is now in storage and will be distributed to camps in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa when they get their camp up and running. Transportation will begin next week.

I will be leaving the fundraiser up so that people who would like to help us cover the costs of transport can.  But once the equipment from Standing Rock has been sent to where it will be best used I will close the fundraiser.

This is the logistics update, there is a character limit on fundraiser updates so I will make a second post to thank you all and let you know exactly how you effected Standing Rock. I am also writing a book that I will upload online for free that will be a much more in-depth look at my experience, to see through my eyes.

Thank you all so much for the love and support

Hey guys,

Yesterday was probably one of the hardest days of my life, I have been working to get people home. I attempted to be a shuttle for people fleeing the eviction but eventually, the police would not allow me to continue doing so. Today I will try to get back onto site to continue cleaning but I do not think I will have much luck. I have thought of trying to go mudding off the roads to the camp, we'll see how that goes.

I managed to save Rosebuds entire solar system along with several yak wool yurts over the course of this week. hopefully the Police will continue to allow us to clean but to be honest I'm fairly certain once the eviction is complete they will level the place with bulldozers :(

I find it so hypocritical that they were worried about the camps causing an "environmental disaster" when the process they will use to clean the camps will cause an environmental disaster.

Keep us all in your prayers

Hey guys,

For those who do not know, a few days ago the army corps came to a meeting on site at Standing Rock and announced they will be evicting all camps. After they move everyone out, they stated they will bring in "heavy equipment" i.e bulldozers and level the camps into a giant trash pile. That im sure they will try to blame on the Water Protectors of Standing Rock.

A lot of the people I work with are very down on the fact that we no longer have the time to clean everything up. We have a solid month until the camps would flood but the Governor of North Dakota will not allow us that time. I keep trying to be the optimistic voice, to let people know its not our responsibility after they push us out by gunpoint.

I am happy to tell you that my crew and I have been running day and night running usable clothing donations to people in need. The last 3 days and even currently now we have a caravan of Box trucks and school buses running those donations to Native communities in South Dakota.

After today's trip we will have successfully removed all the clothing donations from Rosebud :)

I have 4 days to help move people to safety now. Many of the people here are elders, many of them are children. Please pray for us we need all the help we can get.

But I can promise you that I will do my best
