The Story

In 2015 we did amazing work with our Senior/Special Needs program.  We provided $3300 in just the Vet care for this special group of babies.  Of that $2500 was pure donation directly to this program.

For 2016 we are working to match or increase that program.  This program consists of the care for seniors or medical needs dogs, as well as the medical assist program allowing us to help keep dogs in homes that just need a little extra help.

The photos that we have listed with this fundraiser are our 2016 Special kids.  I will be adding to those images as our year progresses.

Displaced Pets Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to rescuing Pomeranians and other petite breeds located in NW Oregon and Washington. Our mission is to help Little Dogs, that are under 10 pounds, whether they come from the shelter or from an owner surrender.  Loss of income, home, illness, relocation, divorce, re-zoning are all things that happen in people's lives and we provide a safety net to keep these little guys from being turned into a shelter.   We have an active relationship with most of the shelters in our area allowing us to remove Little Dogs from an environment that can be terrifying to them.  We work to find these dogs loving new homes, and to provide interim socialization, training and Vet care that they need.

Fundraiser Updates

With Stacy Lou's successful fundraiser, surgery and on-going recovery we are moving back to this one for our Special Needs efforts.  I want to thank everyone who donated to help Stacy Lou.  We were able to raise the $2500 needed for her surgery (which we used a separate You Caring activity for).

Alfie is our current Special Needs recipient.  He is a super sweet little guy who has horrible eye infections when we removed him from the shelter.  The eyes are both much improved, but it looks like he is still going to need the right one removed.   We have that scheduled for the 17th, barring a healing miracle. :)  Where I believe we have Alfie's particular needs covered, we want to continue this program and keep helping these special medical needs.

Every penny that comes in to this fundraiser goes to the care of the next special needs kid.  This has been such a great successful program and we are thrilled at the support we have had for this piece of our activities.

It has been a bit since I have posted this Fundraiser.  We have a new Special Needs girl.  With Stacy Lou's vet visit we have found that she has a very enlarged heart and a 4/6 murmur.  We will be contacting cardiologists next week to see if we can find one that is willing to work with us on payments or reduced costs.  Specialists are expensive and we truly appreciate any and all assistance in covering this additional expense.

Emily is our latest Senior resident.  Super sweet little girl.  Loves to spend as much time in a lap as she is allowed.  Find out more about her on our WEB page at http://DisplacedPetsRescue.com
