This is Max. In the middle of the night, on 4th November, Max was driven up a dark road by his owner, and left in an overnight emergency drop of cage at Southeast Volusia Humane Society. Staff were deeply shocked and saddened by his condition and what he went through. They quickly worked to get him comfortable and make arrangements for him to see a vet and to determine if he was going to be able to be saved. The good news is that Max has checked out with good blood work and is heartworm negative. He is going onto an anti fungal medicine and antibiotics to help with his skin condition. He will need good quality specialized food and shampoos etc and lots of TLC. A foster is lined up who is also working closely at the shelter to take care of Max. Hopefully in a few days, Max will go to the fosters home. :)
We hope you will be one of Max's heroes and even if you cannot donate, then please like his Facebook page at the following link
We hoped to raise $500 to cover Max's vet visits (he will need to go back several times) shots, worming, fleas, meds for his skin, and shampoos etc. We did reach our goal and in fact exceed it. Additional funds will be used to help other animals at the shelter also need veterinary care. We have increased the goal to $1,000 for anyone still wishing to support Max and all he stands for so that he can make a difference for other animals who also need a helping hand.
Donations can also be made at the Southeast Volusia Humane Society PayPal account at http://www.sevhumanesociety.org/donate but be sure to say the donation is for "Max".
Any overages to Max's vet bills will be used for food and other needs, and if there is any money left over we will roll it over to help another animal in need.
Thank you :)
