Hampton Roads, Virginia, is a gem when it comes to vegan eating. From the dozens of restaurants in Norfolk’s Ghent dishing up vegan pizza, froyo, and burritos to the organic eateries at the beach and vegan caterers and baked goods only a phone call away, there is much to celebrate. That’s why a small group of locals joined together last year to host the biggest celebration of plant-based fare the region had ever seen.
Spearheaded by Smithfield Pig Save, a local non-profit organization promoting compassion for pigs and other animals used for their flesh, the inaugural 2016 VegFest was a hit. Thousands converged on Festival Center at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront to dine on delicious food, shop local goods, meet movers and shakers from the animal advocacy movement, rock out to local musicians, and learn about vegan eating. The second annual VegFest on October 8 at Chesapeake City Park promises to be even bigger and better, with dozens of vendors, mouth-watering food, music, a kids’ zone, contests, and so much more. But we can't do it without your support.-Donate $50 and receive a free Hampton Roads VegFest mug.-Donate $100 and receive a free t-shirt.-Donate $200 and receive a VIP package, including a tote filled with goodies and meet-and-greet sessions with our featured speakers.
