The Story

Emily Silverstein was a powerfully kind and compassionate person.  She has left an everlasting and moving impact. Emily’s advocacy for human rights and social justice touched many lives and continues to inspire us to be thoughtful and kind. Emily was a sincere and wonderful friend to all those she met.

A memorial fund has been set up at Gettysburg College to carry forward Emily’s dream for a more just and peaceful world. At Fall Honors Day each year, this funding will support the student recipient of the Silent Leader Award, which honors a student who embodies Emily’s devotion to enacting meaningful change through service. The recipient will be able to use the award to increase her learning or action for social justice.
