Posted on January 30, 2017It's been about 2 weeks since she was spayed and, although they recently had to increase her insulin dosage, the vet is still hopeful that her diabetes will reverse.
Shirley was able to come to the adoption event this week. While she seemed like she was feeling ok, she is still not gaining any weight and is painfully thin. She is still in medical boarding at our 24 hour vet. We have not received that vet bill yet but the boarding alone is almost $1100 including our rescue discount.

Posted on January 16, 2017The vet felt that spaying Shirley sooner rather than later would greatly improve her issues, including the diabetes. Because she was recently treated for heartworm, they had to perform some tests to make sure it was safe to spay her. The test for adult heartworm and microfilaria came back negative so, with the internist's blessing, Shirley was spayed on Friday. She did well during her surgery.. her glucose levels stayed steady. The vet says that it will be about 3 weeks before we will know if her diabetes is reversed. Please send prayers and good thoughts for Shirley.
I am trying to get the billing amounts from the first vet and current vet so the goal will likely go up once those amounts are known. The current goal of $6,000 is only the Emergency Room hospitalization. Thank you to everyone who has donated!

Posted on January 11, 2017Unfortunately, we are increasing the goal for this fundraiser to $6,000. The ER bill cam in just under, but Shirley's boarding costs are over $50/day until we can find her a foster home.
Please share this fundraiser and Shirley's need for a foster to all your friends.
Thank you to those who have already donated.
