Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for continuing to support the
Robert Diaz Tribute Memorial Fund (aka
Fund For PH). The money that has come in so far has taken the burden of funeral and autopsy, and various medical costs, off of PH's mother and wife. However, they still need our support. Shawntay, pregnant with their daughter on the way, has prenatal care and is also using the money from the fund to pay for the family's living expenses. Currently, they are traveling between PH's mom's house in New Jersey and Shawntay's relatives in Brooklyn, who are helping out while they look for an apartment.
In order to facilitate more funds coming in, a core group of friends have banded together to put on a series of PH Tribute Memorial Events. In the past month, there have already been several amazing Tribute's to our fallen brother
PH aka
Pumpkinhead. One that stands out to me is the
E.O.W. MC Challenge of Champions, which PH was scheduled to participate in, where members of The Plague, Brooklyn Ac and Team Homi performed each of his rounds in the challenge.
There was also the
Legendary Cypher, in Union Square, which was attended by hundreds of friends, as well as PH's wife and two sons, the eldest of whom spit a rhyme for his dad. Lot's of people kicked rhymes in the cypher and it was a blessed event. Then there was the
PH TRIBUTE MEMORIAL "All White Party" at
Littlefield, Brooklyn, in
Park Slope, one block from where PH grew up.
Several other events happened spontaneously all over, as well as numerous
Radio Show tributes. (I will post another update in the future, listing links to all of the past events and radio shows, so you can check them out). It was all love and all proceeds have been going to the Fund for PH, which was set up by LR Blitzkrieg of MCMI, to provide money for PH's children. Besides that, the outpouring of love and support has everyone, friends, family and especially the kids, deal with the loss.
The next PH Tribute event will be a performance at the
RockSteady Crew 38th Anniversary concert, by friends and family, in
Central Park, July 26th
, around 4pm. Thank you to
DJ Eclipse for reaching out to facilitate this and to
Crazy Legs and the whole
Rock Steady Crew, who PH and MCMI have been down with for years and always attend and participate in, regardless. This was one of PH's many "homes" within Hip Hop culture and it is an honor to bless the stage for PH and his family, to further promote his musical legacy.
There will be more events throughout the summer, including concerts and even an MC Battle Event in our beloved friend's name, honoring his work as an artist and contributing to the fund. PH. Updates will be made here, on
