We're raising money for Sebastian River High School's Drama Troupe! The theatre program is fantastic and it is lead by a phenomenal teacher! Thing is, there's no funding. The theatre program survives solely off of whatever donations they receive regardless of how small. Recent years have caused the drama troupe to stop attending the State Thespian Festival, which is where students have the chance to attend various workshops, compete with their peers, and even audition for college scholarships! Good thing is, this puts the ball in our court and allows us to directly provide opportunities for these well-deserved students!
We're going to raise $10,000 to give the students the opportunity to compete at States, pay for royalties so they can actually perform whatever shows they'd like, and create a new possibility for an impactful theatre that will massively contribute to the community. We'll be raising money through May & there will be a fundraising event on April 12th at the Heritage Center in Vero Beach! Call me, Kelly, at 657-859-1121 for ticketing information!
This project is super important to me because I know first-hand how theatre can inspire high school students. I graduated SRHS in 2012 as one of the presidents of the drama troupe and I'm currently living in LA pursuing my dream of acting. I would not have discovered my passion for this art if it weren't for the opportunity that I was blessed with in high school. I also learned so much about connecting with people, society, and humanity through theatre. In a world of filters, screens, and inauthentic interactions, I feel that it is my duty and privilege to preserve methods that teach true connection and love.
Let's create a possibility of inspiration, connection, and joy for our future generations.
