JumpStart India works in partnership with rehabilitation schools in India to expand educational opportunity for children affected by the Sardar Sarovar Project and the Narmada Sagar Project. These projects, started by the state governments of Gujarat, India and Madhya Pradesh have displaced over 200,000 people 1000 miles away from their tribal homes. These families have been placed in slum like living conditions in the city. Many of the parents have never been educated and are resistant to send their children to these poorly funded schools. JumpStart India’s mission is to help these families who are facing the challenges of poverty and cultural shift. JumpStart India donates uniforms, backpacks, Watertanks, school books, sports equipment and other educational materials to help establish structured schools. Our goal is to increase the number of children attending these schools as well as ensure these children have access to excellent education.
