The Story

Help Keep Our Wild Horses Healthy and Safe

Wild Horse Warriors for Sand Wash Basin need your help.

Sand Wash Basin is entering a drought year. Last summer we had very few rains and our winter was very light. We need not get enough moisture to fill our ponds.

Sand Wash Basin has many ponds that are in need of repair so  they will  hold  what water we do get this coming summer.

WHW's plans to work on several  projects this summer, including the ponds and the fences that need repairs.

If you make a donation please indicate which project you would like your donation to go  to.  All previous donations are designated for the  fence on 318.

Please  make a notation in  the  comment section, stating the project that your donation is designated for.

Once again we were notified that our Wild Horses were on Highway 318.  When I got out there the Wild Horses had moved off the Highway, but as you can see the hoof prints show they were right beside the highway.  There were also horse piles on the Highway, so they had been on the Highway.  Probably the most concerning was the horse piles showed up on a blind corner. Someone traveling around the corner at 60mph would never have had a chance to slow down before they saw the Wild Horses.

We have asked several people who travel 318, regularly to contact us if the Wild Horses were on Highway 318. Yesterday I was notified that the Wild Horses were back on the highway.

Today a friend and I drove out to the Basin to see if the Wild Horses were still on the Highway. We found fresh piles and Hoot, Shocktop and Dasher just off 318.

I hope they will stay off the Highway, but as we have seen they do not.

Every donation that we get helps us get one step closer to getting the fence up on 318, in the hopes of preventing a loss of life of both wild horses and the motorist that travel this highway.

Thank you for your support
