The Story

Hi everybody,

As you probably expected the reason I've put this page on here is not a very pleasant one and is basically out of desperation. I need your help to keep my wife (and the mum of my 4 young children - George 2, Maisy 6, Adam 11 and Ryan 12) alive.

We cannot imagine life without her and in fact my youngest son does not even understand this.

My amazing & gorgeous wife, Sally, 32, was last year diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer, extremely rare at such a young age. She had surgery to remove a foot of her bowel along with the huge tumour, unfortunately this still left her with widespread disease in her liver, both lungs, lymph nodes and peritoneum.

Despite this and living with a colostomy, so far around 20 gruelling sessions of chemotherapy, 2 lots of ablation, enough supplements to cause her to rattle, intense pain and sickness along with shocking tiredness my unbreakable wife still battles on! I am so very proud of her.

We have funded various treatments ourselves at around £25k and have had some fantastic help from fundraisers who have so far raised around £23,000 for us. Unfortunately this only covers the initial tumour testing for suitability of the treatment we are looking at.

The Hallwang clinic in Germany (recently Emmerdale actress Leah Bracknell commenced treatment here) offers cutting edge combined treatment including low dose chemotherapies, immunotherapies, dentritic cell vaccine and personalised cancer vaccinations. These treatments have been seen to cure the 'UK NHS incurable'!!

Unfortunately the cost of around 9 weeks of treatment here will be over £100k.

I am asking for absolutely any help you can provide, donations as small as you can afford, sharing the story, fundraising ideas, events anything you can do to help.

If 0.1% of the UK population donated £1 we would hit our target so please donate and help us get the work out there.

Thank you very much for reading this and for any help you can give. Me, my kids, and all of our family really need Sally in our lives.

I cannot imagine facing it alone without the love of my life and soulmate.

Thank you, Liam x

Evening all, I'd nearly dare to say good evening as we've had some pretty amazing results, Sally's tumour markers have almost halved, liver function doubled, kidney function normal, usual bloods pretty normal and LDH (dead cell processing) went insane and has started to come back down, all signs that the treatment is definitely working...and very very bloody well! Have a look at the results, wow!

Unfortunately this week has cost us €26,000, €15,000 more than anticipated and our money has finally ran out. Unless we get at least €10,000 together by Thursday we will quite literally have nowhere to go. Sally can barely stand for a second, has lost all muscle mass and we're not able to get her home. Equally we can't afford to stay here so have no option, there's no plan G.

I hope people believe the level of desperation but in case not please see attached images of bank accounts and our bill of today.

I am literally begging, I can't let my wife and amazing mum of my kids deteriorate, suffer and ultimately pass while knowing there's treatment available that works. It's criminal, devastating and unbelievable, almost barbaric. Unfortunately the NHS will not offer the treatment at present, we are desperately working with our MP to change this but we don't have the beauty of time to wait, we need to fill the gap. We've drained our personal finances, maxed our credit, sold car, remortgaged, business currently £12,000 overdrawn, we have no more options for money, nothing, done. We can't stay, we can't go.

I have never been so desperate so quickly, please please please I beg anything anyone can give, or loan we will try to repay as soon as we can, please help me, help us and our kids.

There are lots of events coming up which we are so grateful for but we can't get the money in quick enough, we have nothing. We had some really amazing, selfless people including people we’ve never met donate £1000 instead of going on holiday, anonymous donations and the the help we get from everyone we know. We could sell our house and maybe have £50k of equity but can't quick enough and owe that in personal loans and need something g to get the business back up to pay the bills and feed us all when we get home.

Please, I don't know how else to ask, please help us. One day we will repay the favour. Please donate and share, add your own little story to the post so people have something to read other than just a share. Pride has gone, we are desperate. Thank you for anything at all that you can do.

Love, hope and huge thanks from Liam, Sally and all the kids and family x

Slowly improving...George - 'Mummy, are you better now?'

Well we’ve been back at the Hallwang almost ten days now and so far, Sally’s kidney function has increased three-fold (almost normal), she has lost around 5 litres/kilos of fluid, her CRP (inflammation & infection marker) is the lowest its been in months, has had 3 different immunotherapy antibody treatments, is back on oral chemotherapy and is having more IV chemo and a dendritic cell vaccine tomorrow so all is going in the right direction. All this after back home they couldn’t do anything further at all, we are blessed to be here, thank you.

She has unfortunately had a couple of seizures which were very scary and unfortunately the kids had to witness but we had a brain scan which showed no brain metastases - a huge relief 😌 as this is Sally's biggest fear. It's now under control and is seemingly related to electrolyte imbalance, lack of sleep and kidney function.

Unfortunately (and I know you’re sick of hearing this but we literally have no option) we are now 100% reliant on donations. We have nothing left other than £1400 per month loan repayments and an extra £200 per month mortgage. We have €8940 of credit at the Hallwang but have €13500 to pay for treatments tomorrow and Sally is not ready to leave yet (cannot get out of bed or hold her own weight) so we’re looking at needing another week here at a further cost of approx €7500 until she’s built up. We’ll then need to return in around 3 weeks time for another round of treatments at around €35k.

We have the kids with us at the moment as we were unsure how things would pan out so they are giving Sally the boost she needs to battle on. George (3) asked his mum earlier in the week (after watching her take some of her tablets), ‘Mummy, are you better now?’. It is completely heartbreaking to hear and unfortunately we can’t yet give him the answer he wants/needs to hear. Please keep the help coming anyway you can and hopefully one day soon we can give George and the others the answer they really want to hear.

Thank you all so, so much.

Liam, Sally, Ryan, Adam, Maisy & George x.

Hi all,
Firstly, a huge thanks is due to Donald Stainburn who has just completed a 47km tough terrain bike ride for Sally in New Zealand. Thank you Donald! Ive added a couple of photo’s form the ride.
As for Sally, after spending 9 days in AMU at Airedale, the doctors came around to tell us that they had made Sally as stable as possible from the infection and kidney function point of view, and if we wanted to go back to Germany we needed to go now. After a short period of upset and coming to terms with this on Wednesday morning, we got back in the battalion, booked the ferry and sailed over to Rotterdam on Weds evening with the kids and Sally’s mum. Sally is retaining a lot of fluid and wasn’t able to fly unfortunately so we spent a very rocky and sleepless night on the ferry, but made it back to the Hallwang intact.
We’re now at a critical point where we need to treat the liver tumours further ASAP in order to prevent the infection/sepsis symptoms taking hold and Sally’s organs shutting down in response. We have now sold our car, remortgaged for £25k, now taken out a loan in Sally’s name for £20k, and a further £15k in my name, we really are at financial breaking point but have never needed the funds as much. Sally's kidney function took a battering with the sepsis but is now improving day-on-day, and the fluid is passing slowly. Hopefully in the next couple of days she will re-start the cancer treatment but it looks like we will need to stay another 4 weeks at least this time to make sure we’re not straight back into Airedale when we come back home. I think we’re looking at around £120k for this visit, of which including loans we have around £45k. Although the You Caring page appears to stand at £19k, the funds from this come straight into the Paypal account so are already spent.
Thank you to all who have helped us and please, please, please give what you can, share with others, share with businesses, anything you can is eternally appreciated and we really do hope to return he favour to others who, God forbid, might find themselves in this situation in the future.
Good luck with all of the events planned (the list is attached) we’re overwhelmed with all the help and planning that’s gone into these.
Thank you all,
Love Liam, Sally, Ryan, Adam, Maisy, George and Michele (Sally’s mum) x
