Hurricane Maria turns Dominica into 'giant debris field' as it traveled through the Caribbean last week.Hurricane Maria has killed at least 33 people so far, with the bulk of those deaths happening on my tiny island of Dominica. At least 90 percent of our buildings there have been damaged and most communication lines cut. Our people of this island nation of 71,000 are desperate, and some are still in shock. The floodwaters took out the island's power lines, so there has been no electricity or running water for the last week. I am Dominican but also a local business owner in Seattle WA and I have decided to set up a fund to help the people of Dominica. I am asking my friends at Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Nike, Ready Meds and all the other local businesses to help me raise $10,000.00 The secretary of the Rotary Club of Dominica will disperse 100% of your donations to people in need via proforma invoices to help with food and shelter. Thanks in advance for your kind support.
