i got surgery!
hello everyone! i got my top surgery last month and it is all thanks to you. (i probably should have posted an update on here earlier, but i am just now getting around to it.)
this fundraiser reached 100% of its goal due to the kindness of friends, family, and strangers. i don't have the words to express how grateful i am for your help. i didn't expect to receive this amount of support; i am absolutely floored.
my recovery has progressed wonderfully over the last 3 weeks! there have been no complications, and while there has been (and continues to be) pain, it has been much less than i had prepared myself for. my results are incredible. dr. agarwal and her team did an unbelievable job. every time i look in the mirror (and it's a lot), i am astonished. the reality of the situation is setting in slowly: after all this waiting, here i am, where i have wanted to be for so long.
the phrase "incredible journey" is a bit played out, but i cannot think of any better way to describe this. i have been shown more support than i ever imagined i would receive, or thought i deserved to receive. again, i don't even know where to start in expressing my gratitude. i feel overwhelmed thinking about it. the good kind of overwhelmed.
i want to start working to raise money for other people's transition fundraisers. i'd like to donate at least as much money as i received here. it may take me years to pull that off but i think i can do it. i got so, so lucky being able to cover my surgical costs by crowdfunding. this outcome is an outlier, and in a perfect world no one would need to crowdfund to transition, but until then i want to help fill in the gaps the way you have helped me.
i could keep rambling here but i won't. all i want to say boils down to this:
thank you. thank you. thank you.
