The Story

On January 18, 2018 Winchester was rushed to the vet for, what I thought, was a seizure. Luckily, I shot a video of the episode. It turned out to be a severe dizzy spell. After a quick physical, the vet determined he had a bad ear infection in both ears. He was put on anitibiotics and ear medication was applied. He was diagnosed with vestibular disease. with the dizziness he has trouble walking and his head tilts to one side.

Last month, Winchester had ER visits two nights in a row. He was panting severly. Antibiotics given once again. The second night, pain pills were added.

February 23, 2018 Winchester was coughing up water and breathing heavily.  I rushed him to the ER once again. I knew he must be hospitalized. He had aspirated pneumonia and pancreatitis. He was very sick. I thought I was loosing my sweet boy.

After 7 nights in the hospital, my boy came home. He is on 9 different medications for the pneumonia and vestibular disease. He still has the head tilt and has some trouble walking. Some of his medications mqy be for the rest of his life.

I would like to thank everyone for helping with his large vet bill.

Today Winchester started acupuncuncture. Each treatment is $98. He needs 3-5 treatments to determine how often he will need treatments after that. I want to thank everyone for their generosity in helping my boy with his continued health care.

Winchester update:

Today Winchester had his holistic vet appointment. Today also marks a week since he has been home. He has gained a pound back. No regurgitation on food or water, though he still has a cough sometimes. The office is a country office, but with zen music and a diffuser with essential oils in the examine room. He tasted their refreshing bowl of water several times. He also had his eye on a pillow. He thought that it was for him. Lol 😆 The Dr went over all the medication that the hospital put him on. 3 he has finished. She wants me to finish all his prescriptions and if I see any problems, to call the vet that gave me the medications. Since we got home today, he is now down to 3 medications. She reviewed his supplements that I was giving and wants me to slowly add them back. He hasn't been on them for 2 weeks. She was very impressed with everything I had him on, but added a Chinese herbal blend. The Dr wants me to start him back on the Nuvet Wafers first. Impressive that a holistic vet approves these. They are very happy with his diet. Primal and Stella and Chewy's are their favorites. They also recommend Honest Kitchen. They said to keep on the rabbit for now.

Big shout out to my friend, Kelly at Mydogfoo.com they said keep with the Sniffy Whiffy and already knew all about your company! 😍

After going over his case, the Dr said that if he was my dog, I would start him on acupuncture. She went on to say that it would help with all the inflammation problems. The vestibular, pancreatitis, and pneumonia. So, that is what I did.

He had a few needles inserted in spcial points on his body. He shook and the one on his neck flew out. They put a leash on him and kept him calm for 10 min while the needles did their work. She said he responded well and wants to see him for a coule more treatments. He goes back on Monday and then 2 weeks after that. Evaluation after those visits. They dont know how many treatments he will need until at least 3 visits.

They say that he will probably go home and sleep. Its been a busy day for him, so I hope he gets some rest.

Thanks everyone again for your continued prayers and support.

I almost forgot! I asked what was in that diffuser because I finally could breathe the whole time I was there. She laughed and told me...."Clear the Air" from Now! I need to get some of that!
