It is with great sadness to report that Ron passed away peacefully this morning at 6:00am on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. His sister Cheryl would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and all the visitors who continued to come up until last night. Details regarding a celebration of life are forthcoming. Donations are still important as there are burial expenses to be covered. Thank you!
During the Christmas holiday… our beloved friend, racer and owner of AIM Tires at Sonoma Raceway… Ron Cortez, suffered a massive stroke that left him paralyzed on his right side and unable able to speak or swallow. His family would like to thank everyone, including the global motorsports community who Ron loves & supported, for all the prayers, well wishes, good thoughts & hospital visits, as they maneuver through these uncharted waters. The last few days have been beyond challenging to say the least, as it was discovered that Ron also has colon cancer that is in his pancreas & lymph nodes; he has no health insurance and the hospital is pressing for his discharge to return home; and he just received a 60-day move notice from his landlord. His guardian angel and sister Cheryl needs our help as she faces what it means to arrange for Ron’s ongoing 24/7 care at home now that his feeding tube has been removed, how to attend to his affairs (including his business), and manage his finances & housing situation. Through our donations, this will allow his family to FOCUS ON RON and his immediate needs at the moment without unnecessary financial stress. It’s our chance to thank Ron for all those last-minute tire orders and miracles he worked on our behalf so many times over the years.
P.S. Speaking with Cheryl tonight, she can’t thank everyone enough for the outpouring of love!
