My name is Rob Godfrey – I’m a 57-year-old loving father of three from Liverpool, UK and my dream is to be able to walk again. With your help, I hope to acquire bionic walking assistance system ‘Rewalk’ and do just that.
I’ve been stuck in my wheelchair since June 2012, when an accident at Rampworx, the skatepark where I worked, built and maintained in Liverpool, put me into hospital for months with multiple internal and external injuries and serious damage to my spine.
I left hospital almost a year after my accident and had to sell my house and start rebuilding my life as a proud, hardworking person. I moved into specialist accommodation and, unable to return to the job I loved - building ramps and managing maintenance at Rampworx, was forced to restrict myself to working in the skatepark café.
Now five years later, having begun to put life my back into shape, I’m desperate and determined to be able to walk again and return to the work I have dedicated my life to.
With your help to fund the Rewalk system, I will be able to walk, climb stairs and return to an independent life supporting myself and playing an active role in my community, work and personal life once again and take a step in the right direction.
