RIDGE 2 REEF FARM to SCHOOL HUB RECOVERY
The intent of the Ridge2Reef Farm to School Hub Recovery Fundraiser is to assist Nate Olive and Shelli Brin-Olive in their efforts to supply fresh, wholesome nutrition to Virgin Islands’ youth through the Federal School Lunch Program. Since 2010, Nate and Shelli have been devoted farmer-advocates for fresh foods in the schools. In 2014, Ridge2Reef Farm to School Hub was awarded the first contracts in 50 years by the GVI to grow and source organic crops for USVI schools. Since that time, R2R and 12 other farms have aggregated and delivered thousands of cases of crops for our youth territory-wide. Hurricane Maria damaged the delivery van, ruined produce boxes, destroyed the walk-in cool room and affected the capacity of many local farmers to resume crop production. Help Nate and Shelli get this program back on its feet and into the future with your contribution to the R2R Farm to School Hub. Their projected need is $72,000 for purchase of a new delivery van, new produce boxes and the construction of a permanent walk-in crop cooler in order to aggregate, store and deliver large amounts of crops at appropriate temperatures to the territory’s Public School System. Carole and I are delighted to use our wedding to raise awareness and provide whatever assistance may be possible to assist Nate and Shelli and other St. Croix farmers. Thank you for giving generously.
