The Story

Asking for blessings and prayers!
My daughter, Tiffany and her husband Richard recently found out that he has Pancreatic cancer. It's never a good time to hear the word cancer and to know that you have a family,(wife and six children, three of which are still at home)to take care of. Rick had just started a new job on the first of September and has not been with the company long enough for insurance coverage. Doctors are hopeful that the cancer is stage one and will be able to attempt a lengthy surgery(6-8hours)to remove the tumor off the pancreas, part of the stomach and bile duct. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct 3,2017 at Scott and White in Temple. I'm asking that you please bless this family and help with medical bills,(hospital, doctors, medicine),transportation cost and any other unforeseen costs as they overcome this life threatening disease. The Gentry's are well known for their kind and generous nature. They are church members at Riverside Baptist church in Meridian, Texas. They are devoted Christians and continue to have faith In God knowing that he is guiding them, family and friends. They feel like this is an opportunity to spread his word with whom ever crosses their paths. We pray for guidance and knowledge for the medical staff and a quick recovery and out come for the Gentry's. We appreciate any blessings you may offer and prayers are always welcome.  You may donate on this page or there is an account set up at Pioneer Bank in Meridian. Updates will be given as soon as possible. Please share this page with family and friends. God Bless you and Thank you!

I’m updating this page at this time with great sadness. After the surgery in October for Pancreatic cancer we had many up and down emotions as we worked through all the complications that Rick had to deal with. We nearly lost him after complications with his blood clotting too much even with blood thinners. After nearly two months in the hospital, multiple stays in icu and a skilled nursing facility before being able to finally come home. During the two months at home he had a rough time with progressing in many areas due to further complications and many trips to the doctors office and the ER seeking answers to so many questions. During the last two weeks we were told they figured out what was wrong and proceeded to set up home health for help with nutrition. However during the night after spiking a fever of 103 ,confusion, pain we were told after tests that he was septic due to a blood infection. Antibotics were started and we prayed for good news. That was we faced a new set back. Informed that the antibiotics were not working and the results from the fluid that was removed from his abdomen showed abn cells. the pancreatic cancer that was removed in October was back. He now had stage IV cancer and there was nothing more they could do. Still trying to bring him home for his last days turned out not to be an option. Rick is currently unresponsive, not moving and his breathing has slowed down. Pain is under control. Family is at the bedside and counting their blessings to have the time that they were given. God has a bigger plan and we know we will see him again. It’s with tears and sadness that we ask for prayers of a peaceful passing for Rick and prayers for his wife Tiffany and children. We have had so much support from family and friends. Thank you and God Bless!
