Liberty hasn't had the best life. She came to RO after being dumped with her son at a rural kill shelter. You see they didn't do their "job" of guarding livestock, so their owner bred Miss Liberty in order to start "fresh" with a new puppy that would most certainly do it's job. We can only hope that this puppy is treated better than Liberty and Sam.
Liberty and Sam were given baths, curled nails were trimmed, fleas and ticks were removed and they were fed good food (both are underweight). We hoped and prayed that other than the obvious issues that we could SEE, they both would be healthy pups. Unfortunately Liberty is heartworm positive. Sam got "lucky" and is only scarred from barbwire on his face. We need to raise funds to help cover her treatment.
As the picture suggest, Liberty is thankful. You can just tell. We just want to help her know what "good" feels like.
Liberty didn't come with the name. The shelter assigned her and her son name. To her "family" she was just property. Liberty is a perfect name for this beauty as it is synonymous freedom. We promise to uphold the definition of your name Liberty. You will know love, and what a soft bed feels like. You will be an inside dog and be fed every night. You won't be required to "do your job"...other than love your family and live everyday free.
