**This story was written by my precious son, Trey❤️
Regina Pruitt is an effervescent 42 year old Cystic Fibrosis patient, wife of Curtis, a Vestavia Hills Police Officer, mother of two fantastic boys and 4 fur babies, currently awaiting a double lung transplant. Unfortunately, organ transplantation is incredibly expensive, with estimates from the Children's Organ Transplant Association indicating that out of pocket costs for transplantation will be at least $63,000. However, this does not include the plethora of immuno-suppressive drugs Regina must take for the rest of her life post-transplant. Some of these drugs are not covered by insurance and cost thousands of dollars. Further exacerbating the problem is the fact that Regina's illness and frequent hospitalizations prohibit her from working.
Regina needs all the help she can get. A mother of two sons, Regina embodies the essence of kindness, humility, and grace. She once led an active and joyous lifestyle, but has been severely confined by the limits of her faltering body and lungs. Gone are the days of hiking and rock climbing with her two boys. No more is she able to pursue her passion and favorite hobby, weightlifting, which she shares with her husband. She cannot even walk her four miniature schnauzers any longer without labored breathing, frequent stopping, and worst of all, blood from her decrepit and uncooperative lungs.
However, with your support, Regina can once more have the opportunity to step into the weight room;to enjoy a beautiful sunrise on a morning trek with her dogs; to be rambunctious with and be athletic with her children.
As Regina always says, "As I breathe, I live."
So please, help Regina breathe again.
