The Story

Pug Hollow Sanctuary provides end of life care to 36 elderly and terminally ill dogs under 25 lbs.  Some of these dogs have never had a caring home in their lives, some simply had the misfortune to outlive their owners, and some have been abandoned because of age or illness.

Pug Hollow provides a safe, loving home environment, as well as all medical care, medications, and special dietary needs that any of the dogs may need. We do not have a shelter, or kennel facility, but prefer to maintain the dogs as though they were personal pets in a 1930's farmhouse in which we reside.

As you can imagine it's a lot of hard work, a lot of emotional trauma (we love each of the dogs with all our hearts), and not an inexpensive endeavor.

The end of 2017 was one hit after another, with several major illnesses, and a much higher than usual number of dogs crossing the Rainbow Bridge. It's hard when we get hit that late in the year, because donations tend to decrease around the holidays. This means that we're going into 2018 with our medical fund at $0.

We desperately need your donations to re-fill our medical fund, and cover our outstanding vet expenses, which are around $460 right now. Without your donations, we cannot even consider taking in any additional dogs and while we will always provide medical care for current residents, limited funds limits our treatment options.

We are a fully transparent organization, and will happily provide an itemized accounting of where your donations go.

Our current status for the month of December and January:

December 04 - Mika and Sneaser; enalapril - $15.83 - paid through your donations

December 08 - Sneaser; Theophylline - $30.07 - paid through your donations

December 12 - Vinnie; Clomicalm - $47.48 - paid through your donations

December 12 - Lopug; Euthanasia and Cremation - $276 - paid through your donations

December 13 - Ruth; Abdominal distress - $38 - paid through your donations

December 15 - Mika; Vetmedin - $47.48 - paid through your donations

December 20 - Zoe; Enucleation and meds - $403.44 - paid through your donations

December 20 - Zoe; 2nd Visit - Euthanasia and Cremation - $276 - paid through your donations

December 27 - Sneaser; Exam and meds - $70.88 - paid through your donations

December 29 - Sneaser; Amoximast - $5.28 - paid through your donations

January 2 - Ruth; Emergency visit - $125.88 - paid through your donations

January 3 - Sneaser; Enalapril - $15.82 - paid through your donations

January 7 - Spoonz; Emergency visit, euthanasia, cremation - $334

January 8 - Speedbump, Sneaser and Mika; medication refills- $125

As you can see we still have about $460 in vet expenses left over from Spoonz, and this month's round of medications for the dogs.

Well, the Pug Hollow Horde's game of "Hold my Bone and Watch This" continues.

Ruth apparently needs continuing education credits to maintain her Gosh Darn Zombie Dog certification, because she's got ANOTHER HERNIA.

Yes.
Another. Hernia.

This makes her 3rd inguinal hernia, and her 4th overall if you count her perineal hernia in the mix.

The hernia is a completely new hernia. The previous hernia repair on that side is still intact. That's good and bad... good that the repair held, but bad in that it indicates that hernias may be a recurrent problem for her.

So... she is scheduled for surgery on Thursday, June 14th.

While she's under, she'll have another dental check, and probably have a small mammary tumor removed. We might as well get it all done at once while she's already out.

As always we can use your assistance covering the cost of the surgery. Any little bit helps and fundraiser shares are awesome too!

Not medical but it is an emergency!
It's the time of the month where we buy our next month's dog food and that money has been taken out of our bank account by persons other than us. We have started the process to get the missing money and potential identity theft addressed but it's the holiday weekend, and we don't know how long it will take after that to get things fixed.
That means that right now we have NO money for our next month's dog food, and we're close to the end of our supply.

HELP! We need funds or dog food donations ASAP. How to donate dog food.

Byron is spending the night at the vet tonight for fluids and observation. He’s been throwing up and having bloody liquid diarrhea all weekend. We hope it’s just a bad reaction to adding Rimadyl to his medications. We know he’s dehydrated, despite our best efforts to keep him drinking, and given that he's a 16 year old large dog we want to be on the safe side. Of course with that overnight stay comes the overnight vet bill, (and we just had a $200 vet bill for him a week or so past), and we could really use your help with it.
