The emotional toll that the devastation of Hurricane Maria has brought onto the Puerto Rican community of Boston College is hard to put into words.
Puerto Rico is destroyed. The situation is a humanitarian crisis: 95% of the island is still without power, less than half the island has access to fresh water, food/gas supplies are dangerously low, and hundreds of people have lost their homes. The people of Puerto Rico are doing all they can in their power to get the island up and running again, but there is only so much they can do with the limited resources they have available. The pictures we have seen are borderline apocalyptic, and, as students of Boston College, the ruins of our home country have brought us to action.
We need the help of the Boston College community. Any donation, small or large, will greatly benefit the reconstruction - and survival - of our nation. The collected proceeds will go directly to the 75-nationwide campaign, StudentsWithPuertoRico, which will send all the funds directly to the Puerto Rican government.
Help, donate, and share. Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way to the rebuilding of our home!
