The Story

Artesanos Unidos por Puerto Rico - Artisans United for Puerto Rico

PRIDA's mission is to preserve, promote and support Puerto Rican arts and culture and advocate, empower, service, and help develop Puerto Rican artists.

In keeping with this mission PRIDA has launched Artesanos Unidos por Puerto Rico - Artisans United for Puerto Rico a fund raising campaign to help offset travel expenses for artists traveling in from Puerto Rico to New York post hurricane Maria to participate in this year's National Comite' Noviembre Puerto Rican Artisans' Fair and Book Expo being held on Saturday, November 18, at Hostos Community College in the Bronx and other sales venues currently being developed for them by PRIDA.

As you can imagine, the hurricane devastated the island and artists lost venues where they were able to earn a living after hurricanes Irma and Maria hit. Many of these artists are not able to make a living because their usual venues, malls, and plazas, are either closed or inaccessible.  A loss felt even more acutely during this holiday shopping season.

No donation is too big or too small.

PRIDA is an all volunteer organization and ALL monies raised through the Artesanos Unidos por Puerto Rico - Artisans United for Puerto Rico campaign will go directly to participating fair artists at the end of the campaign.

About PRIDA:

Each year Comite' Noviembre holds the largest 1 day Puerto Rican artisan fair outside of Puerto Rico during Puerto Rican Heritage month in November.

Comite' Noviembre's Annual National Puerto Rican Artisans' Fair and Book Expo, being held this year on Saturday, November 18, draws artists in all disciplines from throughout the US and Puerto Rico and is an eagerly anticipated annual highlight for participating artists, artisans, performing artists, authors, and the public alike during the holiday season.

When it became evident that there was a need to develop more events throughout the year featuring the works of Puerto Rican artists and authors, PRIDA, the Puerto Rican Institute for the Development of the Arts, Inc. a nonprofit artist member organization was born.
