“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope for a future.” –Jeremiah 29:11
God has a plan for each of us, and He’s continuing to make ours more and more exciting. This is our next chapter: ADOPTION. "K" is a little nine-year old boy that has spent his whole life, as far as he remembers, in an orphanage. The only family he’s ever known are the orphans and the revolving door of staff members that surround him. At least, that was until the Grazian family answered God’s call to host K this summer. For ten weeks they showered him with love, affection, and the attention he greatly needs and deserves. They devoted themselves to showing him what a loving family looks like. During his visit they prayed for what do about this precious boy long-term. Little did they know, God had been speaking to the hearts of a very lucky family just a neighborhood away.
In the spring Angie first heard about this young boy the Grazians would be hosting. God began placing an affection for K on her heart, but she was unsure exactly what she was to do. A few weeks after K’s arrival, she clearly heard God’s plan. Unable to sleep, late on a Thursday night, she waited for Phil’s Bible study to end and anxiously shared what was on her heart. It was a shock to Phil, but he agreed to pray over the matter. They prayed heavily from that moment on as God confirmed to the both of them to take K as their son.
There are over 100,000 orphans in K's Eastern European country alone. Only 10% of these are orphaned due to death of a parent. The rest are ‘social orphans,’ orphaned due to alcoholism, abandonment, or imprisoned parents. Many have experienced abuse and violence from parents who were drug addicts or alcoholics. Most orphans grow up in large state-run homes with about 200 children. These children usually graduate from these institutions between 15 or 16 years old and are turned out, unprepared for life outside the institution. About 10% commit suicide before they are 18 years old, facing a life without much hope and a lot of pain. Most girls end up in prostitution and most boys turn to violent crime. These are fates K may face if left in his current situation. He has less than seven years until he graduates.
With your help, K will not face this ‘graduation day’. We are ready for him to be part of our family, but need your help. The cost of adoption is staggering and there are only so many options, and so much time, to raise the money necessary. Here is a breakdown in which your generous contributions will be used (estimates):
Winter hosting (Project 143) $2750
Adoption agency fee $5000
Home study $2100
Foreign country program fees $5950
Ukraine foreign service providers $6000
Visas, Education, Other Third Party Fees $3500
Travel expenses (3 trips to Ukraine) $15000
It may take a year to get our beautiful son home, but we need to get most of the money together quickly to get all of the paperwork processed and have funds available for travel at a moment’s notice. God has brought us here and we have faith He will carry us through, providing the funds necessary. Please take five minutes to watch the video we put together and prayerfully consider joining us in this journey. By donating, you become a part of this beautiful story. A story in which a precious boy’s life is changed by connecting him with his forever family.
