The Story

In March of 2016, Coach Phil Cunningham had his left leg amputated due to fast-moving infection called necrotising fasciitis. The infection recently returned, and he had to have his right leg amputated. He is now recovering at home, with the help of his fiancé Serina and daughter Katie, but they have a long road ahead. He will endure many hours of therapy each day, and they will have to make modifications to his home and vehicle.

This fundraising page will help Coach cover the costs of these necessary modifications. Please considering donating, even if it's only a few dollars. If you aren't able to donate, please pay him a visit, give him a call, or send him a card, and share this page with your friends. Coach has touched the lives of so many in the community, and we'd love to help him through this recovery process.

Here are some of the updates that have been made to Coach's home & car so far. They include ramps throughout the house & outside, an accessible restroom, and hand controls for his vehicle.

Thank you all for your support!

Coach was also recently interviewed on the Gary Bowden show. Link here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/ajrnewsnetwork/episodes/2017-05-19T03_01_02-07_00

Here's the latest update on Coach from Serina:

Phil has now had concrete poured to create a sidewalk to his garage, so he is now completely independent! The only thing he can't do at this point is laundry (because it is located in the basement). He has gone to a couple track meets now by himself. The bathroom remodel is scheduled to be done the weekend of the state track meet, that way he will be out of the house anyway and doesn't have to worry about not having access to the bathroom while they work. Also, he should be ready to get casted for his first leg as soon as he gets scheduled to see his prosthetist.

Thank you again for all of the donations. Please continue to share this page with others who know Coach and might like to help out.
