Did you know our open room sanctuary is home to lots of purrfectly adoptable long-term residents? These cats are no longer kittens, and in some cases, are not supermodels (in appearance), so they often get overlooked for their younger, better looking sanctuary friends. Some of these amazing cats have been waiting a long time for their forever homes! Here are two of our favorites:
MasterChief used to be a rough and tumble tom cat living on the Grafton Hospital grounds. He is an older kitty - we don't quite know exactly how young but estimate him to be around 7 years. PURR cleaned him up, neutered him, gave him his shots and a clean bill of health. He has permanent scars from his old days – just check out his ear! Isn't he adorable? And he is also blind in his left eye. But this does not bother him at all. Master Chief is a very friendly and outgoing cat, loves to lie in the sunshine, and comes running to get your attention for some much loved petting and chin rubbing. Master Chief is a little cat with a lot of personality! He gets along very well with his room mates and while he has settled in well at PURR, he would love to be your fur-ever friend.
Evander once was a farm cat living a hardscrabble life, fending for himself. While we estimate him to be about 5-7 years old, he is the biggest kitten at heart. He loves, loves, loves to be held and petted. As a matter of fact, if you pet him just right, he gets so excited that he may nip you gently as a thank you! There is never too much human-time for him. And in case you are asking, yes, his one ear is a bit crooked and he is also missing a few teeth. But no worries, he is not the least bit impacted by this. Evander gets along fine with his other kitty pals and even grooms them, but would do just as well being the only cat (and thus getting ALL of your attention)! Evander will need a friend who is a bit more experienced with handling cats and reading their body language. He would make a great warming cushion, even in the dead of winter!
Until these PURR babies and their friends find forever homes, we make it our business to ensure they are safe, loved, fed, and cared for. Our love is free, but maintaining the sanctuary is not! Donations are tax deductible and much appreciated! PURR WV is able to do what we do becuase of the generous donations we receive. We thank you!
