Joe was always a very happy boy and Marg has had him since he was a wee one. The Christmas picture with Joe in his Santa hat shows what a special boy he is, but now he needs our help.
At 3:30 Saturday morning (December 27th), a pack of coyotes, or wild dogs, got into the field where Joe lives and he got all tangled up in some wire fencing. He was likely defending his turf or trying to get away from them. Somehow he got out of the fence but he is all cut up, one right by his eye and one bad one on his belly. The vet icame but it will took more than an hour for him to get there. Needless to say, Marg is a wreck. Poor, sweet Joe is so, so sad looking all soaking wet from sweating from trying to get untangled. He was just standing there shaking.
The vet finally arrive but Joe had so many cuts on his face there was no way they could hold him to sew him. The vet feels like the wounds which are very numerous, will eventually heal up. He has scratched his eyeball so he is probably going to lose his right eye. Marg has to put medicine in the eye four times a day.
Fortunately the neighbor kid who lives next door says he will help Marg give Joe his meds. Joe also has to have anitibiotics which Marg is hoping to get him to eat in his food and a pain killer which is a paste and that is only once a day. The neighbor youngster, Dallas, is 16 but he loves animals so Marg is just hoping he can hold him.
Joe was always funny about his ears and one of the bad cuts is all the through his ear. He has a big gash on his face too and so Marg can't put a halter on him to hold him. He has cuts all over him, poor thing.
Joe is a VERY sad donkey right now and Marg could use our help to pay his Vet bills. I know many of you may have already donated to Marg, and we thank you. Please share this fundraiser everywhere you can.
Note: There are two other photos in the library. One is the Purrs and Prayers badge made by Ann from Zoolatry. The other is one that shows how bad sweet Joe is cut up. Marg tells me this is one of the milder photos.
