The Story

Alvin is the last to be born of our six children. He's spunky, uplifting, energetic, strong spirited, and lovable. The pregnancy went fine, delivery went okay. Very soon after he was born the nurses noticed that not all was well with Alvin. His blood oxygen level was slowly decreasing. Things snowballed soon after. Alvin was not getting any better in fact things got far worse. Alvin ended up in the NICU with unexplainable problems. It was soon discovered that had blood clots all over his body.

The clots caused Alvin to have a stroke. A good portion of the left brain was gone. Alvin is doing great despite the stroke. He can walk, say a few words (signs more than can talk). One unfortunate side effect to the stroke is he has seizures. His seizures are very quiet, he does not make alot of movement. He gets an upset stomach and vomits. He is unresponsive and makes very little noise when he vomits.

We are hoping to get a special furry friend to help Alvin through his seizures and his other disabilities. We need to be notified of him having a seizure especially during the night time hours. We are worried about him choking. We want to get a companion for Alvin to notify us before such a thing happens.

Seizure alert dogs can cost between $15,000 - $25,000 to train. Every little bit helps please consider making a donation to brighten this little guys life.

Last week end we have Brian from Arizona Goldens up with Honor one of their puppies in training. It was amazing to watch Alvin work with Honor. He was stretching his arm to reach for thinks, said severla words we have never heard him say before, and in general being gentle with her. They were great together.

We ar so close to reaching our final goal I can almost taste victory. we need just a little bit more. COme out to our spaghetti dinner on June 21 and help push us across the line.

We have achieved our initial fundraising goal thanks to a very generous benefactor. They made an anonymous donation yesterday to the Alvin Beesley Donation Account. who ever you are thank you very much for, I cannot express how deeply this has touched our family. I pray that God will bless you 100 times over for the kindness you have shown us.

During this process we have meet other great families that are trying to fundraise for a service animal for their own children. we want to keep teh momentum going and continue raising for a short while longer so we can help them. we will be having a special event in June to raise money, stay tuned for an anouncement.
