03/21/2014 - It is with a very heavy heart and great sadness that we must let everyone know that Little Girl crossed the bridge in her sleep. She was receiving the best care possible, from a wonderful veterinary staff that went above and beyond to try and help her. It seems that no matter how strong the will to fight is, sometimes the body simply cannot recover from such neglect. We do not know what she endured in her lifetime, only the physical signs we were able to see, however she was greatly loved in her final time on this earth. The tremendous support that was shown for Little Girl was truly amazing. The mission of GM HART has always been to help the lost, neglected and abused animals of Garfield and Maple Heights, OH. The loss of Little Girl makes us that much more motivated to do everything we can.
If you would like a refund of your donation, please let us know.
We would like to use the remaining donations towards fighting harder in the mission of GM HART; to do as much for these animals as possible, in honor of Little Girl, and all the others fighting the same battle. When we are able, we would also like to put together a Memorial for Little Girl.
Thank you again for all of the compassion, well-wishes, thoughts, prayers and support for Little Girl.
"Little Girl" was founding wandering the streets of Garfield Heights, Ohio in freezing temperatures during a snowstorm; frostbitten, emaciated and with only one eye. She was picked up by Garfield Heights Animal Control; the owner was located and has been cited and has a court date of March 26th.
While there is an active court case going on, she is to remain in the custody of Garfield Heights Animal Control until the judge rules how to proceed. The Garfield & Maple Heights Animal Rescue Team is currently acting as liasion and taking on the responsibility of "little girl's" care and recovery. When and if she is available for adoption, GM HART will process the adoption with her best interest in mind.
Donations are needed to help cover the expenses for her recovery and care; vet bills, specialized food, medications, etc. If you would like to make a monetary contribution, you can do so here, via PayPal at www.gmhart.org, or by check (mailed to: Ed Jamison, C/o GMHART, 13600 McCracken Rd., Garfield Heights, OH 44125)
