Vienna and her “coffeehouse” inspired babies came to us from a high-kill shelter on 3/25/14. They have a sad story that we want to turn into a beautiful ending for all.
Vienna had 4 babies that were originally her own. The days she spent at the shelter, 3 more additional orphaned kittens were added for nursing – umbilical cords still in tact. They were on the euthanasia list, and we rescued all 7 babies and Vienna. Vienna was very emaciated, her milk was drying up, but her number one concern were the babies…she loves them and she is a truly great mom!
We quickly noticed that there was something majorly wrong with the original 4 babies’ eyes. Unfortunately, the 4 babies were born with a congenital defect known as Eyelid Atesia (no eyelids). This causes the fur to constantly and painfully rub on the sensitive cornea (surface of the eye). This eventually causes blindness if not corrected. 3 of the 4 kittens are losing one of their eyes as they are not repairable. The kittens are set to have their eyelid procedure, eye removal, and spay/neuter done in the middle of May. They will then be available for adoption. Other than their special needs eyes – the kittens are healthy and act like normal kittens do…they are active, playful and sweet – and oh so cute! We will need very special adopters for these very special kittens. We believe there is a home for everyone of our animals….including the special needs ones. Everyone deserves a chance.
We have already spent $329 for the first consultation at an eye clinic in West Palm Beach, and $87 at our regular vet for their initial visit.
The kittens are having their procedures done at Hollywood Animal Hospital with an eye specialist on May 15th – They are very rescue friendly and are giving us a great deal. Each kitten will cost $200 – so we are asking for your help in raising $800 total for all 4 babies – Chai (calico female), Mocha (brown tabby female), Latte (grey female), Marochino (grey male with 2 “good” eyes).
Thank you all!
