Dear Friends,
As Founder and President of The Ricky Martin Foundation I am honored and grateful for your unparalleled generosity towards the people of Puerto Rico.
For more than a decade, our non profit organization has steadfastly battled against human trafficking - also known as modern day slavery. In the immediate aftermath of María, we created a disaster relief fund to bring urgently needed help to Puerto Rico.
Although we are not a humanitarian relief organization, for the past three months we became one in order further advance the most basic human rights in our beloved Puerto Rico.
As of December 28th, we have impacted more than 150,000 families with our community efforts across the island. We have shipped to Puerto Rico more than 300,000 pounds of basic needs and medical supplies. Two of the three airplanes we chartered had only medical supplies. On those planes, we also brought solar suitcases thanks to our collaboration with Music for Relief and We Care Solar. There is literally light and hope in community health clinics today because a doctor can give respiratory therapy to children and adults with no electricity by connecting the machine to the suitcase. We also deployed solar lanterns and solar chargers across the island, to bring light & connection to the population without electricity.
However, we are not close to the finish line, as there is so much work still to be done in this long-term recovery effort.
Irma and Maria’s fury damaged and destroyed more than 100,000 homes in Puerto Rico. Families without homes are vulnerable to human trafficking. We are working with the Municipality and allies to mapped the housing needs after the hurricanes. This ongoing process has led us to identify 50 homes in the stricken communities of this coastal town where we already delivered Emergency Repair Kits in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity and Save the Children.
Our primary focus and long- term goal moving forward is to construct and rebuild at least 225 homes, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, and other global allies and local organizations.
Our collective goal is to refurbish, rebuild and construct homes for the residents of Loíza, Puerto Rico. A home symbolizes a new beginning, hope, safety and protection to families from violence and human trafficking.
As a 501 c 3 organization, we are more than grateful to everyone from every part of the world who donated.
We have raised over $4,426,692 thanks to partners like Ellen DeGeneres, Cheerios, Wells Fargo, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, Jennifer Aniston, Hilaria & Alec Baldwin Foundation, Walmart, The American Heart Association, Fundación Plaza Las Américas, SAP, FedEx, PACIV Foundation, Foundation for Puerto Rico, The Puerto Rico Community Foundation, Nescafe, SAP, JcPenney and many others.

Como Fundador y Presidente de la Fundación Ricky Martin, me siento honrado y agradecido por su generosidad hacia mi gente de Puerto Rico.
Por más de una década nuestra organización ha combatido la trata humana - también conocida como esclavitud moderna. Tras el paso del huracán María, creamos inmediatamente un fondo de ayuda humanitaria con la finalidad de apoyar a los damnificados.
Aunque no somos una organización de ayuda humanitaria, por los pasados meses nos convertimos en una para proteger los derechos humanos y necesidades básicas de nuestro querido Puerto Rico.
Hasta el 28 de diciembre, hemos logrado impactar sobre 150,000 familias en nuestros esfuerzos comunitarios a través de la Isla. Asimismo hemos traído más de 300,000 libras en ayuda médica y primeras necesidades. Dos de los tres aviones contenían solamente ayuda médica.
En esos aviones, también llevamos a Puerto Rico maletas solares gracias a nuestra colaboración con Music for Relief y We Care Solar. Literalmente llevamos luz y esperanza a clínicas de salud comunitarias porque los doctores pudieron ofrecer terapias respiratorias a menores y adultos. Igualmente hemos entregado linternas, baterías y cargadores solares para la población que no tiene electricidad.
Aunque hemos avanzado, no estamos cerca de la recta final. Todavía hay mucho trabajo por hacer en nuestro plan de recuperación a largo plazo.
Las fuertes ráfagas de Irma y María destruyeron sobre 100,000 hogares en Puerto Rico. Las familias sin hogares son vulnerables a la trata humana. Hemos estado trabajando con el Municipio y otros aliados para delinear un mapa de las necesidades de vivienda y reconstrucción.
Este proceso continuo de campo, nos ha permitido identificar 50 casas damnificadas en diversas comunidades del municipio costero, donde ya entregamos “Kits de Reparación y Emergencia” en colaboración con Habitat for Humanity y Save the Children.
Nuestro foco principal al transicionar hacia nuestro plan a largo plazo es construir y rehabilitar al menos 225 hogares en alianza con Habitat for Humanity, otros aliados globales y organizaciones locales.
Nuestra meta colectiva es remozar, rehabilitar y reconstruir hogares para los residentes de Loíza, Puerto Rico. Un hogar simboliza un nuevo comienzo, seguridad y protección para las familias tanto de violencia como trata humana.
Como una entidad sin fines de lucro - clasificada 501 c 3 - estamos más que agradecidos a todos los que han donado desde cualquier parte del mundo.
