The Story

Help support a group of people from Austin , Texas taking relief supplies to the Houston area affected by Hurricane Harvey.
This is a grassroots effort and is not connected with any NGO's or the Red Cross.
We will be  delivering supplies of food, cleaning supplies,  water, etc.  And possibly helping people clean out their homes.
Any money donated will go towards buying supplies for people affected by the flood.  Any funds left over will potentially be donated to grassroots groups in the Houston area, and NOT the Red Cross.

Currently we are associated with West Street Recovery in Houston's 5th Ward.

Hello all,

Thank you so much for donating to our Hurricane Harvey relief fundraiser !

We're going to closing the fundraiser now.  If anyone would like to donate more to future efforts (Yes! - There is still much work in the Houston area needed to recover)  then we encourage you to donate to West Street Recovery, the Houston group that we've been working with throughout the campaign.

Here's a link to their website : http://www.weststreetrecovery.org/.   WSR is still working hard, and now, after gutting people's homes of mold, insulation and sheet rock, are going back in and putting in insulation and sheetrock.  Money is needed for materials, so please help this amazing grassroots group out that came together organically in solidarity to help people in low-income and immigrant communities in Houston to stay in their homes.

Since our last update we have made a few more donations - including giving $300 to Mama Rosie's Kitchen that was serving hot meals,  and $1,500 to West St. Recovery.

We also donated $1,000 to allies in Oaxaca, MX  that are working with people on the ground there hit by a severe earthquake around the same time Harvey hit Houston.  We encourage you to keep donating to their campaign also.  Here's a link to their page : https://www.youcaring.com/oaxacansolidaritybrigades-968496

Some of the donations have already helped build 65  traditional totopo ovens to re-stimulate the local economy through real solidarity.

Thanks, skot oh

Thanks for all the incredible support in the last week! Weare now associated with West Street Recovery in Houston's 5th Ward.  In the last four days we have fed thousands of people and directly delivered food and supplies to hundreds of families, both in the 5thh Ward and in parts of East Houston.
