This is the Herbal Aid Page for Hurricane Harvey and related recovery efforts. We are organizing herbalists and supplies to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. As we dry out, we turn our face to the sun and let the water recede, and we begin to heal. We are working hard to create a web of mutual aid in the form of food, cleaning supplies, and herbs. We have organized groups to go do herbal support, herbal resilience kits and consults. Please check back here for updates as we get more information. Currently we are raising money for the efforts to get to people that are typically underserved, both farm fresh local food and herbs. We now have a needs list up and a amazon wish list if youd like to contribute. Check back here, more information posted soon.
Who am I? My name is Nicole Telkes I am the Founder and Director of the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine. I helped found a local chapter of Herbalists Without Borders here in Texas. I began doing herbal first aid work in the late 1990s and have continued to assist both with street first aid and disaster relief. As someone who was on the ground during the relief efforts of Katrina, we are organizing to assist with this effort as well. We have been organizing with both national and local folks since this began, as well as grassroots medics in Houston. Any money raised that is not used will go directly into local grassroots efforts, especially of underserved areas of the gulf coast or directly to families that have lost their homes. We are dedicated to full transparency and mutual aid to build a stronger, more resilient community. We also hope to have this tragedy used also as an opportunity to offer the healing power of herbs to people when they need it most.
