The Story

Paws2Rescue are starting 2017 with 4 projects. We are looking to hold our first neuter campaign as soon as the snows clear in February or March. The cost of this is EU20 for a male and EU25 for a female dog. We will hold as many neuter campaigns as we can in 2017, attacking the root cause of the problem of stray dogs in Romania. We are working with WAP on an education programme in Romanian schools to help educate the future generation to care for animals. We need to cover the cost of the materials, which works out at EU3 per child. Our work will start in the Cluj region of Romania. We have two rescuer projects in addition to these that we are starting our work on as soon as the snows clear and the weather improves. Our rescuers in Timisoara need fencing around their indoor shelter. At the moment there is no way that the dogs can go outside and play. and we would like to make a safe play area for them. One of our rescuers in Bucharest needs further work to complete her enclosures for the stray dogs which she has taken in, Whilst a lot of the work was completed before winter, the roofs need work, and the enclosures completing. These are our initial 4 projects that we are fundraising for in 2017. We are working on other major political projects in Romania too, and will continue our day to day on the ground work, as our rescuers take in dogs in need from public shelters and the streets. Paws2Rescue will continue supporting rescuers with food, vet bills and ensuring a place of safety for these dogs.

We have started another neuter campaign - and this time we are neutering Jilava, an area south of Bucharest. The vet clinic is making these neuters for cats and dogs because there are far too many puppies and kittens being born, and we need to help the area. Please, please, donate and help us.

Following on from our last hugely successful neuter campaigns this year, we are going ahead to neuter Jilava. Our next neuter campaign for the dogs of Jilava will be mid October, and we are aiming to neuter 100 dogs and cats. We are working on a ratio of 5 cats for every 20 dogs. The average cost remains EU30 per dog. Our October campaign will cost us EU3,000 and then we are working hard to plan another neuter campaign which will be open for the whole of 2018 too. Please support us as we try to stop pups from being born unwanted.

We were back in Romania in April, and with two more trips in May 2017, a total of 10 of us out in Romania working, our team has been busy. In April, we saved 14 dogs from public kill shelter Mihailesti, outside of Bucharest, in a harrowing day. In May, we are going back to Romania to continue our neuter campaigns. We really need your support to keep neutering - for less than the price of a family take away meal, a dog can be neutered, saving 67,00 pups from being born - it really means that much to us. Thank you for your support.
