The Story

PACC is a 501(c)3 organization for Hampton Roads and surrounding areas. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Muna is a 9 week old puppy that was rescued from Hurricane Harvey (Texas).  She was tied to a porch with a rope bigger than she was when a rescuer was able to talk her person into surrendering her so that she could have a better life.  Once in rescue, Muna was doing well until her foster mom noticed her vomiting after eating. We took her in for x-rays and found that Muna might have something lodged in her esophagus from when she was tied to the porch in TX. This may be what is prohibiting her from eating like a normal puppy.  She needs an endoscope to find out what is lodged and if it can be removed.  If no answers or resolution are found with an endoscope then Muna will need a CT Scan.  When taking Muna into foster care we had no way of knowing the severity of her issues and we need your help to get Muna proper medical care.  The low end estimate is $1200 and the high end is $3500. Muna is an amazing puppy with so much spirit, despite her rough beginnings. She is smart and loves to cuddle. Muna would love to make someone an amazing lifetime companion but needs help to get her through this set back. We know she is in pain from this medical issue but her personality still shines through. Right now, she is on a strict liquid diet and we know she would just love to be able to eat a normal meal without pain and get ready for her new adoptive home. Please know, a donation of any size is one step closer to helping Muna make this happen! See Muna's update below from her latest diagnoses.

Muna is doing well and finally putting on some weight now that she is eating and keeping down the liquid food. She is scheduled for her surgical consult on Monday the 16th. We are really hoping to raise some serious funds over the weekend and get the surgery scheduled as soon as possible. We thank everyone so much for the donations and shares Muna has received so far but please keep sharing! Thank you!

Muna had her vet visit today and at home recovering from the procedures. She was such a trooper and everyone in the office loved her. She had the endoscope done today and they did not find anything stuck in her esophagus so we decide to do a CT scan which revealed a blood vessel around her esophagus causing it to be constricted, also known as vascular ring anomaly. This is a birth defect which can only be corrected with surgery. We are waiting for more information from the radiologist to know the extent and cost of the surgery. The veterinarian felt confident there would be a high success rate for Muna with this surgery and she would likely have no long terms effects of this issue once she recovers from surgery. The visit today was $1420 and the estimate for surgery is between $3000 and $5000. This level of cost for one dog is not logical for a non-profit and even if it was, the ability to help many for this cost verses just one is not a sound financial decision for the group. However, we have decided to do everything we can to give Muna a shot at a long happy life. She is just one amazing, tough puppy who deserves a chance at a great life. She has survived hurricane Harvey, flooding, living her first few weeks tied to a porch, fighting to get enough food to survive (and keep it down); we know we can raise the funds to get her past this last hurdle. Anything would help! Even $5 is a step closing to saving Muna, please consider helping with any amount you can and share in as many place as you can. Muna thanks you!
Also, we cannot say enough good things about Dr. Perry and the staff at BluePearl Specialty & Emergency Pet Hospital in Virginia Beach. They were so kind and understanding with Muna and did everything they could to help our organization get the safest and financially smart care!
