The Story

Hurricanes Irma and Maria had a devastating impact in all aspects of Puerto Rican existence, which continue to be painfully present to this day. In the first days after the storm, we created the Para la Naturaleza Community Fund* in order to fund relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts in our neighboring communities, assist sustainable agriculture projects harmed by the storm and jumpstart reforestation and habitat restoration across the island. Since then, teams of Para la Naturaleza staff and volunteers have distributed thousands of cases of food, water and supplies to over 30 communities across the Island, in addition to helping clear roads, remove debris and restore damaged structures.

Likewise, thanks to our supporters, we have already committed $250,000 to channel financial assistance to 100 local ecological farmers that suffered serious losses due to the hurricanes. Our teams are devising new educational programming to foster the rebuilding of more resilient communities, such as workshops on developing neighborhood orchards, compost making and installation of water filtration systems, among others; and are in the advanced design stages of a massive reforestation and habitat restoration plan that will impact all of Puerto Rico.

The path to create a sustainable Puerto Rico entails a long-term commitment to our communities and ecosystems, and Para la Naturaleza stands as ready as ever to take on the challenge. Our goal is clear, but securing additional financial resources is critical to our success. Therefore, this #GivingTuesday, we urge you to show your love for Puerto Rico by donating to the Para la Naturaleza Community Fund. Your contribution will directly support the recovery of communities in need, as well as that of the vital natural resources that are essential to our future.

We genuinely appreciate your help and support.

Sincerely,
Fernando Lloveras San Miguel, Esq.

Dear Supporters of the Para la Naturaleza Community Fund:

On behalf of everyone at Para la Naturaleza and in Puerto Rico, thank you so much for responding to the call of action for our communities.   No one can truly anticipate what natural disasters will bring, but we are that much more confident that we will be able to recover and grow stronger because of your support. Gracias!

For those of you, who donated through our website directly to our PayPal account, we are excited to announce that we have created this page via youcaring to make it easier for all to donate.

You have already done so much for us, but if you can, we ask that you visit this donation page www.youcaring.org/plncommunityfund and share our efforts with your networks on social media.

All donations through the previous paypal link will be recognized on the PLN Community Fund site.  If you would like your donation to remain anonymous, please contact [email protected] and we will make the change immediately.

Your support in these times of distress is so important for our recovery effort and is simply uplifting to know we count with friends like you.

All our best,

Fernando Lloveras & the Para la Naturaleza Family
