Trust is a peculiar calling sometimes. God called me to trust Him in committing to move across the country (for a second time in my life) and be a part of a new church plant in the DC area.* Now He is telling me to trust Him to provide the funds needed to make that move happen.
I wouldn't normally think a call to trust the Lord would require me to ask for help from others, but in retrospect how could it not?
There are several occasions that I've seen the Lord call me to trust Him by trusting others and by making my needs known to those within my circle of influence. Time and time again in my life the Lord has called me to sacrifice my pride and bring my needs before loved ones. He has done this so that He can use them to provide what is missing, meet an existing need and ultimately glorify Himself.
What I am asking is that you consider helping me move to DC :). God will provide the funds to move no matter what, so this is just one avenue I'm stepping out in faith to use and make my needs known. In fact, it's not just my need, but my friend Emilie is moving to DC to be a part of this awesome church plant as well and we have the privilege of being in this together - so whatever I raise will benefit her too.**
Initially I was reluctant to even have a fundraiser for my own moving costs, but I know there are people who would love to help and most importantly, to pray. This request is indeed one of those times where God is telling me to lose myself, not be so self-sufficient and to trust that He has a plan to provide - as He always does.
Just so you're aware, I don't know how much we'll actually need to move our stuff and to drive across the country, but I set an initial value to get started. If we find out we need more than that I'll increase it as time goes on. I'm pretty sure the generous people we've got in our lives will blow this initial goal of 3K out of the water.
