The Story

I will be running a tough 26.2 miles this October in the Chicago Marathon. As part of my race preparation, I am dedicated to help raise research money to help my granddaughter, Evelyn. Please help support this great cause -- show your support for our entire family who is doing all we can to help provide the brightest future we can for Evelyn and her future children!!

Evelyn was born with pseudoachondroplasia, a rare skeletal dysplasia. It is officially on the list of rare diseases and therefore receives very minimal federal funding for medical research. The NIH greatly reduced all research funds and help is needed to put money toward this cause!

Dr. Jacqueline Hecht, Professor and Division Head, of the Pediatric Research Center at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston is leading one of the very few research efforts on pseudoachondroplasia, with the goal of finding new therapies and interventions to decrease the associated joint and skeletal pain. She is in dire need of money to continue supporting the costs of her current mouse model research. It costs nearly $100,000 per year just to maintain the amount of mice they need to do the research -- in addition to all the supply and personnel costs. Please help keep this research going so we can help provide a better future for our special girl! I love her and her younger sister Olivia so much!

Today was the big day! Guy successfully ran the Chicago marathon, at a time of 4:01.32. This amazing time was despite a fall during mile 22, when a fellow racer stopped right in front of him. Guy collected his hat, sunglasses and sore elbow, and kept on running to this great finish.

He had a great cheering crowd there to keep him going, including Evelyn. We were all so proud of him and thankful for what he's done to help raise money toward pseudoachondroplasia research.

Through online and offline donations, we are incredibly thankful to say we have raised $10,050!!!! This is world's beyond what we all thought we could initially do.

Way to go Guy, thanks to EVERYONE for their support and hope to see you next year! Check out the photos!
