Dear friends, family and benefactors,
24 days to go, roughly a month and half since I first set up this site, and because of your generosity we are at the goal! I am now able to enter Hawthorne on October 7th - no doubt about it! I can never thank you all enough - for your prayers, your support, your donations, your sharing of your stories and intentions with me. I've been overwhelmed by the love and support I've been shown by friends, family and strangers. It's a witness to the fact that where the spirit of God moves, there is unity. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Many of you might be wondering what I will do if I raise more than the amount I needed (we're already a few dollars over!) What I will with any money over the total raise is continue to pay down my debt. The $10,000 taken on by very generous people was taken on to be paid off over time. SO to lessen the burden on these incredibly generous people I will use any money that people continue to donate to pay off my loans and get them as low as possible before I enter.
I want to update more but I'm at a loss for words! I will keep praying for you all, and please, please, please keep praying for me. I hope that you all will join me especially in praying in thanksgiving for the tremendous generosity shown, and the miraculous speed with which the Lord made this happen. I will be adding this thanksgiving to my intentions for St. Monica's novena (we're on day 4 now) and I will be praying a novena of thanksgiving to Our Lady after that. Anyone is welcome to join me!
God bless you all, thank you all SO much again, for everything you have done. I can't even begin to say how moved I am.
In Christ's love, and with deep gratitude,
p.s. Happy Feast of St. Pius X today and Happy Feast of the Queenship of Mary on Thursday (Aug 22!)
Hello friends, family and benefactors!
I posted and update earlier but for some reason it never went through! Hopefully this one makes it. :)
First of all - Happy Feast of the Transfiguration! I love this feast for so many reasons, but probably most of all because of how it shows us what we are made for but also points us towards the reality of the cross because we reach our final reward and the glory of the resurrection. Pope John Paul II wrote about this beautifully in Vita Consecrata saying:
"...the Transfiguration is not only the revelation of Christ's glory but also a preparation for facing Christ's Cross. It involves both "going up the mountain" and "coming down the mountain". The disciples who have enjoyed this intimacy with the Master, surrounded for a moment by the splendour of the Trinitarian life and of the communion of saints, and as it were caught up in the horizon of eternity, are immediately brought back to daily reality, where they see "Jesus only", in the lowliness of his human nature, and are invited to return to the valley, to share with him the toil of God's plan and to set off courageously on the way of the Cross."
So we are 40 days from the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross and today we are given the big picture in many ways - the two feasts are so intimately united.
Speaking of the September 14th, I wanted to share with you all that I will be updating the total needed on this page to reflect donations that I have recieved in person and by mail so that you are all aware of the actual total that is needed. I am constantly amazed by people's support and generosity and it only seems fair to share the news of it with you all as well!
As always I am praying for all of you, and depending on your prayers as well. Have a wonderful day and look up the prayers from the mass today if you get a chance. They are beautiful!
God bless you and keep you, have a wonderful week!
In Christ, through Mary,
Dear friends, family and generous benefactors,
Thank you all so much for your support and for your sharing this with friends! Thank you especially for your ongoing prayers. As you can all see, tremendous progress has been made - because of you all! It's amazing to see the generosity in your hearts and to receive your intentions and stories. It's such a blessing and I read what you all write and pray for you every day.
I also have some wonderful news to share. Some very generous people have offered to take care of $10,000 of my loan! Isn't that amazing? God is so generous, and full of surprises. That means that I am able to decrease the total amount needed on this website by $10,000 (as you can see in the new total posted), and that makes our progress even more impressive. Please keep praying for me, for more benefactors and for all those discerning their vocation - to marriage or religious life.
Have a blessed weekend!
In His love,
Hello again wonderful friends and supporters!
Every time I think I cannot be more overwhelmed by the generosity of others, I am proven wrong! I first posted this site just a week ago this evening and look what the Lord has alread done through you! It's incredible to see and I hope you do not get tired of hearing me say that I thank you from the bottom of my heart because I do. Thank you for your donations, your prayers and for spreading the word. It's all just so good and I wish I could thank each of you in person. In lieu of that I offer my rosaries, holy hours and other prayers for you all daily.
Today is a special day as well because it is the anniversary of the death of Mother Mary Alphonsa (Rose Hawthorne), the foundress of the community I am entering. To celebrate I wanted to share this beautiful blog entry with you, which one of the Dominican brothers assigned to Hawthorne on ministry wrote about the Sisters: http://www.dominicanablog.com/2013/06/28/how-to-live-at-hawthorne/
and one of her many wonderful quotes:
"It will be our aim to forget ourselves and our finite life of work in our Lord and the spiritual quality of our work, which we are taught is heavenly in so far as it is honestly done. So that you and I may find that our life is radiantly beautiful, in not being ours, but the life of Him we desire to be, at whatever cost to our will and ease."
Peace and good to you,
Dear friends and supporters,
Thanks to your support we are off to an amazing start with this fundraiser! I'm so amazed by the response and by the support of not only wonderful friends, but from so many people I've never met personally. Please keep sharing my story and this site by email and facebook and any other means you'd like - it makes a huge difference! I hope everyone had a blessed 4th of July and have gotten to at least look over a little of Pope Francis' first encyclical! http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/francesco/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20130629_enciclica-lumen-fidei_en.html
United in prayer with you (and loving praying for your intentions!)
Thank you so much for your support everyone! Please keep sharing and praying - I am so grateful for such a possitive response. If I can raise $443 every day then we will make the goal amount by September 14th! Pretty exciting, and I'm already loving praying for you all. God bless you!
