The Bettencourt family is settled into their temporary home, a trailer on the property. They finally have all their pets under one roof. Kirra, Sebastian aka Fat Cat and Roxy their parrot are home and have made themselves comfortable. The family is currently seeking a permenant residence in the surrounding area. We are hoping they will be lucky enough to find something by Christmas time.
Also, for anyone interested, we are having a Speghetti Dinner Benefit for the family this Sunday, July 28 from 12 noon til 10 pm. It will be at St. Anne's Frat located at 144 Guild St Fall River, MA. Tickets for the meals are $20 per person. We will have 2 meals in order to accomodate all who wish to enjoy the food. One meal from noon til 3, and a second from 4 to 7. There will also be a bake sale table as well as the following entertainment: 2 comedians, 50/50 raffle, DJ/karaoke, a live band, and of course a chinese auction which we have gotten many donations for including handmade goods, gift baskets, and gift cards for some restaurants and entertainment (mini golf, go karts, etc).
If you do not wish to enjoy the meal, we have donation only tickets for the same price ($20) which when purchased will enter you into a special raffle. This is a great opportunity to enjoy some terrific entertainment and help an awesome family at the same time. Tickets can be acquired by contacting me, Cheryl Bettencourt, either on Facebook or by calling 774-644-0738. If there is no answer, please leave a message with your phone number so I may return your call ASAP. Hope to see many familiar faces there...and some new ones! Thank you all for all you have done to support my brother's family. It is truly appreciated by all of us!
It is with great sadness that I have to share this news. The Bettencourt family's dog Lady, who ran away during the fire, was hit by a car last night and unfortunately she did not make it. We believe she was finally on her way home, but sadly was taken from us. The family does have her back home now. We all wish it were in a different way, but she is where she belongs. Our thoughts and prayers are with my brother's family during such a terrible loss.
I have received a number of messages through our donations page from people who would like to donate cash but do not have a debit/credit card to donate through our page. If this is the case, we have a number of benefit events that can be attended, or they can be mailed and/or dropped off to my house at 180 Milton Ave Somerset, MA. I will be sure to get any and all donations to the family as soon as they are received as I see my brother on a daily basis. Thank you all again for all of your support. It is greatly appreciated!
