The Story

Air Force Staff Sergeant Tim Davis, a Combat Controller, paid the ultimate sacrifice on Feb. 20, 2009 in Afghanistan fighting for American peace and Afghan freedom. Since his death, his Gold Star mother has drawn strength and solace in meeting Tim's Combat Control family at annual reunions in Fort Walton Beach, FL. In the poor economy, she's struggled with employment and cannot afford to travel from Seattle this year. This year's reunion is 16-20 Oct. Let us sacrifice just a little, in comparison to all she's given. We need to raise about $1200 to cover airfare (~$750) and room ($109 x 4 nights = $436). As a Gold Star mother the Combat Control Association provides two gratis banquet tickets. Money raised that exceeds the actual cost of airfare and room will be donated to the Combat Control Association (CCA). For more information on the CCA go to

Thank you again for your generous donations!  I have made Sally’s 4-night hotel reservation and purchased her airline ticket and the $1193.31 (after credit card processing fees) we raised was perfect.  The room is $488.32 and the ticket cost was $697.60 for a total of $1185.92.  I will be donating the remaining $7.39 to the Combat Control Association.  Thank you again for your support of this worthy endeavor.

Wow again.  In little more than 24 hours, we hit our goal!  Accordingly, I'm turning this fundraiser to inactive so we can purchase some tickets and reserve the room.  If I've underestimated the cost, I will reopen the fundraiser.  Thank you so much for your generosity!

Wow!!  You all are amazing.  It's been less than 24 hours since we started this, and we're just $140 short of our goal.  As impressed and appreciative as I am, I can't wait to tell Sally and hear the gratitude in her voice.  My most sincere thank you!
