Who We Are
Orphan Dog (Formerly Lake County Animal Services) is a dog rescue located in Lakeport, CA. Founded in 2003. Orphan Dog is a 100% volunteer organization with all rescued dogs fostered in the private homes of volunteers. All Orphan Dogs are spayed/neutered, given any medical treatment needed to make them healthy. Once they're groomed, microchipped and receive lots of cuddles they're adopted out to new forever homes. As of July 2015, Orphan Dog has rescued, cared for and rehomed nearly 2,700 dogs.

What We're Fundraising For
Several Orphan Dog volunteers are also members of L.E.A.P (Lake Evacuation & Animal Protection). Since the Rocky Fire began they have tirelessly been spending their nights out assisting individuals in the area to evacuate themselves but just as important, their pets and livestock.
As we post this there are thousands of homes under mandatory evacuation and others at risk are under an advisory to be prepared to evacuate. With these evacuations come many animals who are in need of care, feeding and in some cases veterinary care. Lake County is the poorest county in California and the Rocky Fire is currently threatening a portion of the poorest city in California (City of Clearlake). Many amazing people including the fire fighters who are currently battling the fire are helping as best they can. Shelters outside of Lake County have already begun assisting with housing animals and finding foster homes. The outpouring of support is amazing.
What The Funds Will Be Used For
Some of our supporters, adopters and fellow animal lovers have contacted Orphan Dog and asked how they can help. Currently there is no estimate on when the fire will be contained, how much larger the evacuations will actually be and there's already a large number of animals that have been evacuated. With that, we as Orphan Dog has set out to raise funds for these animals, those that are in danger, evacuated or already displaced. In a county and an area already struggling economically we want to help ease the burden of this disaster.
100% of the funds will be used to help care for, feed, shelter, and provide veterinary care to the pets and livestock of Lake County affected by the Rocky Fire. No matter how large or small the final total number of dollars may be it will be used to assist animals of Lake County recover.
